Isabele Maxwell, the older sister of Ghislaine Maxwell who is charged with several counts of sex trafficking and perjury, continued to show her support outside New York City’s federal court on Wednesday.
The jury, which decides whether Maxwell assisted late financier Epstein in sexually abusing teenage girls from 1994 to 2004, will resume deliberations on Monday after an abridged first week. The British socialite will spend Christmas and her 60th birthday in jail.
Ghislaine’s sister Isabel has been standing by her throughout the sex trafficking trial. When a reporter outside the courthouse inquired what she thought of her sister spending her birthday behind bars, Isabel wished her well and a ‘Merry Christmas.’
The 59-year-old socialite and British heiress, Ghislaine, was arrested in July 2020 and could face up to 80 years in prison if convicted.
Epstein killed himself in his jail cell before going on trial for abuse charges in 2019.
Journalist: “Your sister’s birthday is on Christmas; she’ll be in jail. Do you have anything to say to her?”
Attorney: “We have no comments.”
Isabel Maxwell: “That we wish you well, we wish you a Merry Christmas.”
