The renowned London wax museum Madame Tussauds opened its first outpost in the Arab World, in the city of Dubai, as seen in footage from Monday.
The Dubai-based Madame Tussauds museum displays 60 wax sculptures of global figures from cinema, TV, fashion, sports, music and politics, of which 16 are from the Arab region.
Lifelike sculptures made by internationally-renowned sculptors were displayed in the museum with reports of each sculpture taking at least 12 weeks to be made.
In 1835, the first Madame Tussauds museum was opened in London, and now has 24 smaller outposts around the world.
SOT, Sanaz Kollsrud, general manager of Dubai’s Madame Tussauds: “Madame Tussauds as a brand always looks for a new destination where the brand doesn’t have a presence currently. Dubai being a global tourist destination was definitely the ideal location for the first Madame Tussauds branch in the Middle East, being on Blue Waters Island being walking steps away from ‘Ain Dubai’ definitely gives us an edge, an advantage, which is going to be the next tourist hotspot here.”
SOT, Sanaz Kollsrud, general manager of Dubai’s Madame Tussauds: “I think we offer quite a lot of different experiences when it comes to meeting different celebrities, from music, from Bollywood, from Hollywood, we also have 16 wax figures from the middle east region that were made exclusively for us which you can only find in Madame Tussauds Dubai, which then again connects us even more to the heritage and culture of where we are, being the first middle east attraction and when you walk around the attraction you can definitely see the theming which represents Dubai and as I mentioned there are a lot of interactive experiences to enjoy as well.”
