Thousands of Israeli protesters marched towards the former Homesh settlement in Nablus to decry the killing of Yehuda Dimentman and to stop the demolishing of the settlement on Thursday.
People marched waving flags of Israel towards the West Bank hilltop where a week earlier Yehuda Dimentman was shot dead when Palestinians opened fire at an illegally constructed religious school, or yeshiva. Members of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) guarded the area.
“More than ten thousand people, young and old from all across the country, came here to send a clear message to all the politicians in Jerusalem – the people of Israel demand to rebuild Homesh,” siadYossi Dagan, Head of the Shomron Regional Council.
On Tuesday, the Knesset turned down a declaration to legalise the Homesh Yeshiva along with other 70 West Bank outposts.
“We invited to people of Israel to join us in spirit or to come here in the coming days so that Homesh can be rebuilt with the help of God,” announced Ettya Dimentman, widow of Yehuda.
According to local news, the IDF plan to evacuate the Homesh Yeshiva once the mourning period for Yehuda Dimentman ends.

SOT, Yossi Dagan, Head of the Shomron Regional Council and Israeli settler (Hebrew): “More than ten thousand people, young and old from all across the country, came here to send a clear message to all the politicians in Jerusalem – the people of Israel demand to rebuild Homesh.”

SOT, Yossi Dagan, Head of the Shomron Regional Council and Israeli settler (Hebrew): “We are saying to the prime minister, you are responsible. Give the response to this murder. It is your responsibility.”

SOT, Ethia, Yehuda Dimentman’s widow (Hebrew): “The more people there are, the more rain there is, and the harder and more challenging it is. It is clear to me that Yehuda (Dimentman) is happier.”

SOT, Ethia, Yehuda Dimentman’s widow (Hebrew): “We invited people of Israel to join us in spirit or to come here in the coming days, so Homesh can be rebuilt with the help of god.”

SOT, Daniella Weiss, Israeli settler activist (Hebrew):

“I’m afraid afraid that the government is not strong enough. Bennet is not strong enough; I’m afraid he will back off. What gives me hope that the situation might change is the tens of thousands that arrived here (in Homseh) today.”

SOT, Daniella Weiss, Israeli settler activist (Hebrew): “The dedication of the right wing public has the power to change a policy of giving back lands.”

SOT, Daniella Weiss, Israeli settler activist (Hebrew): “I think leaving Homesh is a mistake, from a security, strategic, political and educational perspective. Without connections to political views, right, centre, or left, this place has to remain under full Israeli control.”
