Should I give my kid a phone? Exposure to screens, the internet, social media, and video games is perhaps one of the most confusing aspects of 21st-century parenting.
On the one hand, there are lots of benefits to having a smartphone… like more independence, the ability to contact you in case of an emergency, being able to communicate with friends and coaches, and having access to the many educational apps and content available (plus, none of us want to create a “forbidden fruit”!).
But on the other hand, there are very real negative effects of having a high-powered, compact computer in your pocket… like screen addictions, weakened social skills, and heightened anxiety (not to mention exposure to some terrible content and terrible ideas – keep that thing away from my kid!).
Look, as per usual, there is the radical middle way and this is the approach I’ll be sharing in today’s YouTube video. 🔍👨👩👧👦✨
