Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Donbas conflict resembles ‘genocide’ during a Meeting of the Council for Civil Society and Human Rights in Novo-Ogaryovo, Thursday.
“The same should be said about Russophobia as the first step towards genocide. We all see and know about what’s happening now in the Donbas. And of course, this resembles genocide, you mentioned. But you have to be very careful not to devalue these concepts. They must reflect the reality of the events that take place,” he said, answering a question from Kirill Vyshinsky, executive director of news agency Rossiya Segodnya.
Vyshinsky has recently told Putin the Donbas situation has been deteriorating over the past month and suggested introducing the concepts of “genocide” and “calls for genocide” into Russian legislation.
