LIVE: Protesters take to streets of Paris to demonstrate against racism and state violence

Anti-fascist groups are demonstrating in Paris on Saturday, November 27, against racism and state violence.

Protesters call for a demonstration against far-right movements, their ideas and discourse, as far-right TV personality and presidential hopeful Eric Zemmour becomes a prominent figure ahead of the elections in April 2022.

Zemmour, who has gone on trial on charges of incitement to racial hatred, previously claimed that Islam and immigration are destroying France and that unaccompanied child migrants are ‘thieves, killers and rapists.’

The protest comes after at least 27 people drowned off the coast of France near Calais on Wednesday, November 24, as a boat carrying migrants trying to reach the UK capsized in the English Channel.
