Moscow’s Lefortovsky District Court is expected to announce the verdict for the Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny’s case of fraud and insulting the court, on Tuesday, March 22.
The hearing takes place in the Penal Colony No. 2 outside the city of Pokrov, in the Vladimir region.
The prosecutors call for Navalny to serve 13 years in prison, as well as a fine of 1.2 million rubles.
The fraud case against Navalny was initiated over a year ago. According to the investigation, the politician stole and spent more than 350 million rubles donated to the Anti-Corruption Fund for personal needs.
