The Libyan Coast Guard said it rescued 80 migrants from a sinking boat off the coast near the town of Castelverde, east of Tripoli.
“This morning, we received a report from nearly 33 km east of Castelverde, and managed to arrive just in time and rescue them. During the rescue operation, we have were harassed by them. The rescuees are 60 men, 15 women and 5 children”, said a Coast Guard official.
Following completion of the rescue operation, migrants disembarked and were handed over to the responsible authorities.
