How do baby’s sensory skills develop over their first year?
Here are a few of baby’s sensory milestones from 0-12 months, validated by American Academy of Pediatric findings!
0-3 Months: Baby is able to calm with rocking, touching, and gentle sounds
0-3 Months: They will visually track a moving toy from side to side while lying on their back
0-3 Months: Baby will also attempt to reach for a toy held above their chest
4-6 Months: Baby will use both hands to explore their toys and bring hands and objects to mouth
4-6 Months: They should also not be upset by everyday sounds
7-9 Months: Baby enjoys a variety of movements
7-9 Months: They investigate shapes, sizes, and textures of toys and surroundings
7-9 Months: Baby explores and examines an object using both hands and mouth
10-12 Months: Baby will crawl to and away from objects they see in the distance
10-12 Months: They enjoy listening to songs
10-12 Months: They will explore toys with hands, fingers, and mouth
