Around 850 refugees gathered their belongings and left the temporary camp of Kara Tepe, on the Greek island of Lesbos, on Monday, before boarding a ferry to mainland Greece.
The migrants, who have been granted asylum and recognised as refugees, are expected to stay on the mainland until their relocation to other EU member states who have agreed to take in refugees in the wake of the Moria camp fire.
Last Monday evening, a group of around 700 refugees had already left the camp going the same route.
After today’s departure, the number of people remaining in Kara Tepe camp is below 8,000. The camp was built to serve as a temporary shelter for around 10,000 migrants who had lived in the overcrowded Moria camp prior to the fire.
