Protesters blocked the streets in Kiev at a rally against mandatory vaccinations and pandemic measures.

The number of COVID cases in Ukraine now exceeds three million with more than 70,000 linked deaths, according to the country’s health ministry.

Authorities are taking steps to curb the surge and have introduced 15 so-called ‘red zones’.

There, most educational institutions, restaurants and non-essential shops are closed.

The government has also ruled that some state workers must get vaccinated against COVID-19 or face suspension.

However protesters disagree with the decision and accused authorities of not respecting their constitutional rights, and chanted slogans such as ‘stop genocide’.

Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko called it ‘a mockery of our medics and of the families who, unfortunately, have lost their relatives to COVID-19’.
